Halloween is a time for costumes, candy, and a little spooky fun ā but it can also bring some unexpected tricks for your body if youāre not careful! Whether you're chasing after kids in costume, decorating your home, or just enjoying the season, here are a few physical therapy tips to keep your Halloween pain-free and full of treats š»:

š§āāļø 1. Watch Your (Zombie) Posture
Putting up decorations or carving pumpkins? Keep your back straight and avoid hunching for long periods. Take breaks, stretch, and be mindful of how you lift heavy items. (No need to move like a mummy!)
š 2. Safe Footwear Over Fashion
We love a good costume, but those witch heels or superhero boots can be a recipe for a fall. If youāre out walking with the kids or attending a party, wear supportive shoes ā your joints will thank you!
š·ļø 3. Mind the Trick-or-Treat Terrain
Sidewalks, lawns, and driveways can be uneven and poorly lit. Watch your step to avoid ankle sprains or trips. If youāre recovering from an injury, bring a flashlight or stay on well-lit paths.

š¬ 4. Donāt Overdo the Sweets
Okay, weāre not saying skip the candy entirely ā but too much sugar can lead to inflammation, which can aggravate chronic pain conditions like arthritis. Enjoy, but in moderation!
š§ 5. Listen to Your Body
If youāre feeling sore, stiff, or something just doesn't feel right after the festivities ā donāt wait! Early intervention with physical therapy can prevent small issues from becoming big problems.
This Halloween, have fun, stay safe, and donāt let pain creep in! šNeed help getting back to pain-free movement? Schedule your next appointment today ā we're here to keep you moving, no matter the season!
